Yule Log is free and runs in your browser. Feed the fire oak, birch or pine, poke the logs, pump the bellows, douse it with water, or colour the flames with copper, salt and strontium.
Open Music (M) for eight public-domain carols on a music box, made in your browser. Drop in an audio file of your own and the flames dance to the beat. Or paste a Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud or Apple Music link, then press play in its player. In the detailed room the radio on the mantel plays the carols too: tap it to tune, hold it to switch it off.
Keep one fire with friends far away. Press Together, then Start a room, and send the link. Friends open it, or type the six-letter code and press Join. Only people with the code come in, and nobody needs an account. Everyone in the room sees the same fire: the logs, the water, the colours, the candles, the cocoa, Pip, the cat, the Mouse King, the tree's decorations and letters to Santa. The carols and a pasted music link play for everyone, and each person presses play in a pasted player. There is no chat, but a letter to Santa reaches the whole room.
Share copies the link to the fireplace, or to your room while you are in one, so friends can join you. It also makes a postcard of your fire as it burns now, with the link under it: send it through your device's share sheet, or save it.
Pour a hot chocolate and pick a topping. Hold the marshmallow card to roast one; let go before it catches. Tap Pip on the mantel to make him dance. Write to Santa and send the letter up the chimney, or send the fireplace to a friend with a note. A capable phone or computer gets the detailed room, with the cat and the radio; a weak one gets the easy room, which runs anywhere. Switch under Lights.
Open it in a TV browser, cast a tab, or connect with HDMI. Press H to hide the panels and F for full screen. On a phone, add it to your home screen and it opens full screen like an app: the Install button in the toolbar, or on an iPhone the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
Is it free? Yes, with no account and no download. Does it work on a phone? Yes. It picks a lighter picture on small or slow devices; change it under Lights. Is there sound? Crackle, chimes and carols, made in the browser and off until you turn them on. What does it send? A visit count, nothing more: a small script from umami.is counts visits and taps without cookies or names, and stays off when your browser asks not to be tracked. No account, and the code and fonts come with the page. Together connects you to your friends through PeerJS's free relay, and what the room does, letters included, goes to everyone in it. A pasted music link loads that service's player. How is it made? The whole room is one web page: the fire, the sounds and the carols are computed in your browser as you watch, and the furniture, the cat and the mug were modelled in Blender.
